Description
Spectra Precision DET-2K Kit Digital Electronic Theodolite – Contractor Grade Angle Measurement Solution with Tripod
Spectra Precision DET-2K Theodolite Kit OVERVIEW

The Spectra Precision DET-2 is a rugged, field-proven digital electronic theodolite built for general construction, layout, and alignment work where accuracy, speed, and reliability matter. Designed to simplify angle measurement without the cost or complexity of a total station, the DET-2 delivers dependable performance for contractors who need precise results day in and day out.

Built around an intuitive operating system and durable mechanical design, the DET-2 is easy to learn, fast to deploy, and accurate enough for demanding layout tasks such as 90-degree lines, anchor bolts, column alignment, and elevation checks. Its versatility makes it a go-to solution for concrete, utility, steel, and general contractors who want precision without overkill.

Dual Displays, Simple Controls, Built for the Jobsite

The DET-2 features large, dual-sided LCD displays with bold characters that are easy to read from either side of the instrument. Both displays are backlit, and the telescope reticle includes illumination for low-light conditions, making it usable indoors, at dawn or dusk, and during winter workdays with limited daylight.

A six-button keypad provides quick access to the most common functions without digging through menus. One-touch buttons allow you to zero angles, hold readings, convert vertical degrees to percent of grade, and switch between clockwise or counter-clockwise angle measurement. The result is less walking around the instrument and faster production in the field.

Accuracy You Can Trust, From Short Shots to Long Sight Lines

With a 2-arc-second accuracy rating, automatic vertical compensation, and a 30x magnification telescope, the DET-2 delivers sharp, stable readings across both short and long distances. The short minimum focus distance allows clear viewing up close, while high-quality optics maintain clarity over longer sight lines.

An optical plummet enables fast, accurate centering over control points, speeding up setup and reducing rework. Vertical angle readings can be displayed in degrees, gons, mils, or percent grade, allowing the instrument to adapt to different job requirements or crew preferences.

Designed for Real-World Construction Conditions

The DET-2 is rated IP54, protecting it against dust and splashing water commonly encountered on active jobsites. It’s built to handle rough handling, frequent transport, and daily use without losing reliability.

Power flexibility is another advantage. The instrument includes both a rechargeable NiMH battery pack and an alkaline backup battery pack that accepts standard AA batteries. This ensures you’re never sidelined if charging isn’t available on site. Battery status is clearly displayed on the LCD, and an automatic shut-off function helps extend runtime.

SitePRO Contractor Grade Aluminum Tripod INCLUDED in this Spectra DET-2 KIT

SitePro ALQR20 Aluminum Heavy Duty Quick Release Tripod

Built for the demands of the jobsite, the SitePro ALQR20 delivers rugged stability and fast setup in one dependable package. Constructed heavy-gauge square aluminum, this tripod features double-banded legs for enhanced strength and reduced flex — ideal for high-precision applications in tough conditions.

The quick-release clamps make setup and adjustments fast and secure, while powder-coated black hardware resists wear, corrosion, and jobsite grime. The replaceable steel shoe points anchor confidently into dirt, gravel, or concrete for solid footing.

With a flat head style and standard 5/8-11 thread, the ALQR20 is compatible with most construction lasers and optical instruments. It extends up to 64 inches for versatility in uneven terrain, and collapses down to 40 inches for easy transport and storage.

Key Features:

  • Heavy-duty square aluminum construction with reinforced double-band leg design

  • Quick-release clamps for fast, reliable height adjustments

  • Durable black powder-coated metal hardware resists jobsite wear

  • Replaceable steel shoe points for solid traction in any surface

  • Flat head with 5/8-11 threaded mounting bellhousing

  • Extended height: 64 inches (163 cm)

  • Collapsed height: 40 inches (102 cm)

Ideal for: contractors, surveyors, and construction pros who demand durability, fast setup, and long-term reliability in the field.

Note on Included SitePRO ALQR20 Tripod:
This kit includes a contractor-grade tripod built for strength, stability, and long-term durability. Unlike many online kits that cut corners by including low-cost tripods with no available replacement parts, we’ve made sure to pair this high-end laser with a tripod that matches its quality.

We understand that when you’re investing in a precision instrument, the last thing you want is to set it on a flimsy tripod that sways in the wind or fails under tough jobsite conditions. That’s why we include a heavy-duty, professional-grade tripod, carefully selected to meet the demands of jobsite use — and fully backed by us.

You won’t find this level of detail or commitment to quality spelled out like this at other distributors — but it’s what sets us apart. We guarantee you’ll appreciate the difference.
